"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend." -Melody Beattie
Wow that's a pretty powerful statement. I mean chaos to order; confusion to clarity?! I don't know about you, but if what this quote is saying is true, then I want some of it! So how can we cultivate some gratitude in our lives?
Here are a couple of suggestions to start off:
1. Write someone a thank you note; just taking a small amount of time to intentionally reflect on them impact someone has had on our lives and writing it down can be enough to stop us in our tracks and redirect our focus from the difficulties in life to the blessings in life-not to mention the joy we experience in knowing that we have passed on our gratitude to someone important to us.
2. Keep track of the things you are thankful for: Whether it is physically in a journal or in the "notes" app on our phones, keeping a running list of what we are thankful for gives us a tangible reminder that can help switch up our perspective. It can also be helpful in the tougher times to go back and look at this list to help offset the balance between negative and positive.
I hope these suggestions prove to be helpful, launching you onto that path of increasing life fulfillment; also, if you have any other ways that you practice gratitude, I'd love to hear about them!
